We are near the end of week 1 of the crises caused by Covid 19. Well done to all. I want to acknowledge each staff member who is contributing their bit to address the challenges we face- in their own way.
Thankfully we don’t have any staff member who is down with the virus. Many are working from home while protecting vulnerable family or they themselves are vulnerable.
Those attending work are also doing valuable service keeping reports up to date; making payments for staff salaries; payments for sole trader contractors, expenses; dealing with Government departments and state agencies. We are all trying our best to maintain distance, to wash our hand regularly and keep work stations clean and safe. It is some comfort to know that all wages will be paid on time and that our funders are also supporting us in this effort.
We also have volunteers manning the test station at the stadium and they will remain there in the short term and will not be returning to the offices until the CEO and Chair agree it is safe to do so.
Please be assured that the directors are supporting every measure that we take that contributes to staff wellbeing. The board is aware of the challenges facing the staff and our clients and all suggestions of how we can alleviate the stress will be considered.
At this stage it is important that we all listen to HSE advice and pay no attention to the myriad of messages for so called experts. Base your actions on HSE advice only. Let us be leaders of calm in our families and in our communities, be practical and sensible and adhere to all the measures as recommended.
If you need to talk or want to clarify anything or have suggestions please do not hesitate to contact me.
