I hope you are in good health and keeping safe. These are indeed extraordinary times with unprecedented challenges for all of us. We are bombarded with information, so much so that it is hard to see the wood from the trees.
I want to acknowledge each and every staff member for their contribution towards overcoming the challenges. Those at home are playing an import role in keeping safe, keeping their loved ones safe and helping us all to keep our distance. Those who are volunteering at various roles and those who have contacted me to offer their services in meeting and overcoming some of the challenges. On behalf the board of directors and senior management team I want to let you know we appreciate all of you for your collective contributions.
In the next few days SDCP will be establishing a community initiative across the county – in all areas not just disadvantaged districts. This work is been undertaken to try and ensure that nobody is being left behind in terms of services in this difficult time. It is intended that the project will map out what services are working, what organisations are providing essential services, who are the people who are receiving services and most importantly we need to identify the gaps in essential services particularly gaps for those aged members of our community, those in isolation without supports, people return to homes from hospital and those with underlying health issues.
The early stages of planning this are underway at present and we will need staff to help us out in the mapping, communicating with individuals, staff to signpost people to appropriate services and to advocate to ensure they get this service.
I am asking those who wish to become involved to let their line manager know; also we are open to ideas of how to make these contacts safely and in line with HSE guidelines.
This project will unfold itself in the coming days and I will keep you informed in the meantime keep safe, insist with others that distances is maintained and wash your hands frequently with warm water and soap or sanitiser.
Thanks you all for your continued support and cooperation.
Kind regards and keep safe
