Mac Uilliam Family Fun Day was organised by South Dublin County Partnership, South Dublin County Council and Barnardo’s on Saturday the 18th of June 2022 from 2pm to 5pm as part of the efforts of the Mac Uilliam Interagency Group to increase participation of residents through a series of collective action activities to improve the status of the estate.
The day was very successful and fun with amazing activities including Giant Jenga and Giant Connect4, ‘Our Moment in Time’ – a celebration of family, friends and community through photography, the reptile zoo, face painting, messy play for kids, tug of war, soccer, rugby, cricket, basketball, boxing, a gardening workshop and a Garda van that put on a show for the children as well. There was also information on support services in the area such as Citywise, YODA, EELTB, Foróige, and South Dublin County Partnership’s community development, life-long learning and the Kick programs. The green in the estate was divided into different parts for the different activities to happen simultaneously so that everyone had the opportunity to participate in something. The amazing RAMS – Retired Active Men’s Social Group provided fantastic music from 2pm to 3.30pm, with music from DJ Raspizo all afternoon.
The Mac Uilliam Community Development Group which is supported by South Dublin County Partnership provided a massive volunteering support for the day including setting up gazebos, helping to supervise the various activities and cleaning up at the close of the fun day. Over 300 residents including adults and children participated in the activities of the day.
